exclusion

Rodent exclusion is the process of identifying how rodents are entering a structure and sealing off every active and potential entry point. Unlike trapping alone, exclusion provides a permanent solution by correcting structural vulnerabilities. At RM Plus Solutions, we follow a systematic, thorough, inspection-to-completion workflow to ensure rodents cannot access the home again.

1. Full attic & Exterior Inspection

We perform a complete assessment to identify all rodent activity and structural weak points.

  • Inspect crawlspace, foundation vents, and sill plates

  • Document all entry holes and gnaw points

  • Look for tunneling, nesting, droppings, and contamination

  • Examine roofline transitions and utility penetrations

  • Provide photo documentation when needed

2. Preparation & Cleaning

Before sealing anything, we prepare the workspace so the repairs are clean and effective.

  • Clear debris around access points

  • Remove contaminated insulation (optional add-on)

  • Brush/clean surfaces for proper adhesion of materials

  • Ensure all gaps are fully visible

3. Sealing & Exclusion Repairs

This is the core of the service — physically closing every opening rodents can use.

  • Seal holes with rodent-proof materials (metal mesh, metal flashing, hardware cloth)

  • Repair or replace broken or chewed foundation vents

  • Seal utility line penetrations (plumbing, HVAC, electrical)

  • Reinforce gaps around crawlspace doors

  • Close roofline and siding gaps where needed

4. Minor Structural Adjustments

Some points require additional reinforcement to stay rodent-proof.

  • Reinforce loose siding or trim

  • Secure foundation vent screens

  • Install protective guards over vulnerable access points

  • Level or repair crawlspace door frames if needed

5. Follow-Up & Guarantee

We stand behind our exclusion work.

  • Final walkthrough and inspection checklist

  • Warranty on all sealed entry points

  • Recommendations for long-term rodent prevention
